Variable Data Printing (VDP) is a digital printing technique that can change text from one print to another. Variable printing is usually handled by special software that ties to a database.

The most common example is junk mail: Attention Calvin, You have been pre-approved!

As each envelope rolls off the digital printer, a different name can be printed on it. That is variable data printing in its simplest form.

Designs by Calvin announces a complimentary redesign for a nonprofit in need of website design services.

Rules and Restrictions:

• Must be a 501(c)(3) Charity
• Must be located in Maine
• Cannot be affiliated with a national charity or brand
• Total Annual Revenue must be less than One Million Dollars
• Administrative costs must be less than 10% of total revenue

No new content will be added to the site. Designs by Calvin will only redesign existing content.

This free service will be in exchange for the right to use created site as a portfolio piece.

Ever wonder how striped backgrounds are created? Most of them are created using an online stripe generator. This shouldn’t be considered cheating, and is really handy for new designers without the income to have software like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. For the veteran designer, this service allows more time to code pages rather than Photoshop a striped background.
